Worsley: Suspected burglar arrested after driving on wrong side of M60

A suspected burglar was arrested after driving on the wrong side of a highway in what appeared to be a stolen car.

Police say the Skoda Fabia was stolen in a burglary in the Worsley area on Sunday May 29.

The burglar then drove on the wrong side of the M60 before finally being arrested after fleeing on foot after ramming into several other parked vehicles.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: ‘A stolen Skoda Fabia on May 29 at Worsley would start from ME54 on the M602 and travel counter at J11 M60 before failing to stop until Prestwich.

“After hitting stationary vehicles, the occupants fled.

“One person has been arrested for burglary.”

The operation was carried out alongside officers from the North West Highway Police.

This comes after several other recent instances of crime and anti-social behavior on the roads in and around Bolton, including a number of cases of cloned cars, speeding, vehicle theft and uninsured drivers.

Officers called on anyone concerned about similar offenses to call 101 or 999 in an emergency.
