Woods Humane Society Cuts Adoption Fees For Dogs Over 50 Pounds, Shelters Reach Full Capacity

The Woods Humane Society is launching its “$ 50 for 50 lbs” adoption promotion this weekend, as the shelter’s kennels reach full capacity.

According to the shelter, there are a large number of large dogs awaiting adoption.

The local nonprofit is running this 4-day adoption promotion until Dec. 5, where all dogs weighing 50 pounds or more can be adopted at a reduced rate of $ 50.

Woods says the price is breed independent, and they hope the promotion will help these large dogs find forever homes and make room for the many other dogs in need.

“We desperately need space in our kennels,” says Sue Berry, Woods COO. “We’re packed and our shelter partners and our community need us to accommodate more dogs. “

The nonprofit also says it currently has more than 40 large and medium dogs available for adoption. This promotion is one of many that Woods has recently put in place to increase adoption, as Woods and other shelters nearby are experiencing high numbers of stray and abandoned animals.

“The dogs we are offering for adoption are gentle, loving, and ready to learn. They will make great family companions and dogs, and they deserve to find a permanent home for the holidays, ”said Berry.

Those interested in adopting can see the dogs currently available at https://woodshumanesociety.org/adoptions/san-luis-obispo/.

The shelter asks those who wish to meet a pet to complete an adoption application before traveling to the San Luis Obispo shelter, located at 875 Oklahoma Ave. Woods Humane Society adoption hours are noon to 4 p.m. daily.
