Wallingford’s most reported crimes in May 2022

VIOLENCE and sexual offenses are the most reported crimes in Wallingford, along with anti-social behavior, criminal damage, theft and public order.

Data from Police UK, the national website for policing in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, revealed that 517 of the 1,557 crimes reported in the past 12 months involved violence and sexual offences.

A total of 1,479 of the 4,531 crimes reported over the past three years also involved violence and sexual offences.

Data from last month shows almost half of reported crimes were for the same offense at 35 out of 131.

The second most reported crime over the past three years is antisocial behavior, which includes “personal, environmental and harmful antisocial behavior,” with 545 out of 4,531 reports.

Last year there were 206 reports out of 1,557 crimes coming in third place after public order, which is an offense that “causes fear, alarm or distress”, which has 207 reports.

Nineteen reports of antisocial behavior have been reported in the past month out of 131. The second most reported crime in the past month is theft with 24 incidents.

The third most reported crime over the past three years is criminal damage and arson with 505 out of 1,557.

However, it was only reported 132 last year and nine times last month.

The fourth most reported crime over the past three years is theft with 408 out of 4,531 cases.

In the past month, there have also been 11 reports of vehicle crime, five reports of burglary, three reports of shoplifting, three drug reports, two reports of bicycle theft, one report of other felony and a robbery report.

Statistics for last year are 116 vehicle crime reports, 88 burglary reports, 42 drug reports, 37 shoplifting reports, 18 personal theft reports, 18 bicycle theft reports , 16 reports of other crimes, eight reports of possession of weapons and four reports of robbery.

Of 1,557 crimes reported last year, 488 had no suspects identified, 400 were “unable to prosecute” and 154 are still under investigation.

Eight offenders received a fine while 12 offenders received a warning. A total of 26 are awaiting a court decision and 135 do not have a status update available.

Over the past year, crime reports in Wallingford range from 96 to 170 per month, against Didcot which ranges from around 160 reports per month to around 270. Abingdon has the most monthly reports with a range of 180 to 290 .
