NATCHEZ — Loud barks and soft meows rang out at the Corner Bar in Natchez, where the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society held a fundraiser on Saturday. Attendees were able to purchase gallon-sized bags of regular, spiced boiled peanuts and meet some of the shelter’s adoptable fur babies.

Haley, a black and white husky mix, and her four-legged friend Becky had fun and played together in the grass. The two are close in age, around eight months, and Haley has one brown eye and one blue.

Rennie, a caramel brown mixed race, gratefully accepted the pats and scratches behind the ears of all visitors who met her. She’s been at the Humane Society for over a year, looking for her forever fur.

Lotus, a gray tabby kitten, appeared to be on the verge of falling asleep while being held by Darskey McMorris, who is the director of the Natchez Adams County Humane Society shelter.

To learn more about these pets and how to adopt them, visit, stop by the Humane Society at 475 Liberty Road, or call 601-442-4001.
